Masterson’s Tavern , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my latest trip at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I experienced behind its walls was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.

The floors were sticky , and a pungent odor of decaying beverages and dirty bathrooms suffused the entire venue . Reeking of a mixture of human waste, decay and sour vomit . The serving zone , which should be the primary feature of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and litter that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The lavatory was in even more deplorable shape — clogged , with a cracked flush mechanism and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was fecal matter .

From reading other reviews and chatting with the community, it seems that the standard of sanitation (or lack read more thereof) at this bar is a recurring complaint.
